I was selling some stuff on Yahoo! Auction a few days ago, and I noticed a very interesting client, who bought a c-mount lens from me. After looking at his profile, I realized that he’s and amazing modder. Let’s check it out.
He got a simple and cheap “Pocket Movie HDV (POMOHDV2)”,

adds a C-mount screw (female) to the sensor,

finds a faulty (aka junk) Leica IIIa,

(The outer shell was made between 1935-1948 years)

remove most of the internal structure and cleans camera,

gets the C-mount head from a piece of broken security camera,

and uses Epoxy putty to bond the mount nicely on the Leica body,

cuts a few holes for the LCD, buttons and SD card slot with drills and cutters.

Time to put things together.

Some soldering and rewiring.

Rearrange button’s positions and 4 way controls,

adds connection to dial, as both connection touches, turning off LCD monitoring.

POWER SWITCH

A Power button is added below, when top switch is pushed to A, the Power button will be pressed,

attaching shutter button under Leica’s shutter button, wiring and soldering after positioning,

Wiring! Solder them with 4P connector for easy connections later.

Drill hole and adds a mic.

Soldering and putting things together.

Making connections,

fixing everything nicely with epoxy putty,

DONE!

did you remember Gmilo and I were telling you about this guy? and you actually run into him? what’s the odd?
OHhh you were talking about him? haha i met him in yahoo auction, you should rss feed his selling items too, i think he is coming out with a new one, base on what he brought from yahoo auction.
I wish 1 day he will dissect a DP2, it would be mad with a faveon sensor.. but then again he has to remeasure the distance for focusing..
It’s easy when you know how to do it…Why don’t? :’(
Whoa! A true master!
There’s so much to see on his page…sadly my Japanese is really bad :s
Ill try to blog most of them when i have the time
but isn’t any lens going to be a telezoom on such a tiny sensor?
true.. but there are also super wide lenses
that makes it look ok.
What I don”t understand (I’m not good in technique) it’s why he use part of a security cam. The original part seems ok, no?
i think, that is for the mount only,
