Some New Cameras.

Before I say anything, I’d like to wish every camera lovers out there a Merry Merry Christmas! And I wish everyone a Great and Successful New Year!

I was on a holiday in Hong Kong last week, not actually a holiday, more like a trip. I was busy visiting families, friends and places in the entire trip. I was also getting souvenirs for families and friends in Japan, and for myself as well. Yes, souvenirs for me, that means camera goodies. (I will post them on my next article) When I was checking my mail and reading feeds on my iPhone. I came across 2 new cameras that I saw online, they are the”ViviCam 8027 and the Crossover Stussy and GR3.  I’ll start with the new ViviCam 8027 first.

ViviCam 8027An 8 megapixel CMOS sensored vintage looking camera, a 2.4inch LCD display. Come on, seriously? Where are all these strange new toy cameras coming from? Before I go into specifics, here is a video they made with this camera.

What did you think? Well, I think it’s a waste of our time, and their time. Sorry that I’m quite straightforward. There nothing special about this camera. The only thing that is interesting about this camera is the ability to recharge on a USB cable and the looks of this camera. And all the color modes similar to the sister camera the Vivicam 5050, but what surprises me the most, is that it has an image stabilizer and face detection.

Alright, here are the specifications for this vintage, cheap-looking rangefinder toy camera.

Name: Vivitar ViviCam 8027
Sensor: 8megapixel CMOS
Still Image Resolution: 3264px X 2448px (max)
Video resolution: 640×480 Pixels (25fps)
Stabilizer and Face detection.
Aperture: f2.8 to f5
Focus: Auto Focus
Zoom: 3X
LCD: 2.4 inch
EV: 3 to -3
White Balance: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent
ISO: 100 to 400 and Auto Mode too.
Color Modes: Color, Vivid, Sepia(from my point of view it looks bad), Monochrome
Date: you may add date to the photos. don’t we miss that function?
Memory: Reads SDHC all the way up to 8GB
Many Languages: English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Turkish, French.. err where is Japanese?

So, yes, the specifications aren’t that bad, but for a 195USD, I think I’m gonna skip this one. I mean, I can get a real vintage camera, that runs on film with less than 195USD.

Here is the next item, What did Stussy do to GR3?

The GR DIGITAL 3 X Stussy!

February 2010 is a special month, the Harinezumi and its leather case coming out, polaroid films will probably sold everywhere, the new compact “big sensored” Nikon cameras are being on showcase (similar to Leica’s X1) and so many cool stuff will be going on. And seems like Ricoh and Stussy, will make something happen too.

Here is the new collaborated camera, limited to only 500 units!

01

Personally, I’m not a fan of any Digital GR cameras, but I love my GR1S. I think that the GR lenses are a total waste on such an Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie SENSOR! I could understand such a beautiful lens on a full frame, but not on a GR Digital! (clears throat) Ahem! Excuse my emotional instability. Let’s see more pics, check this out.

20091209173751Em, Should I say “nice fonts?” I’m sorry, my dear camera-loving viewers. I might not be very fashionable, but what is the media trying to do? Am I suppose to like this camera? On my right brain, I’m like… Err, what is this? Then, my left brain’s just told my right brain to just say, “Em, not bad, nice design.”, but then my right brain just froze…

200912091737231089 USD, really, you must be kidding me. I can get a really nice Leica (film camera with this price) or a nokton f1.1 lens. I’m glad it will be a limited edition of only 200 units. If I see too many of them on the streets, I might just get a seizure. Wait, WHAT? 500 units?! Oh man, I think I AM going to get a seizure this February.
