COLOR HACKABLE HARINEZUMI v1.00

Basically the Harinezumi went through a lot of changes through out the entire time. And in this post today, I will be explaining them in details. The Harinezumi started out with the firmware Version 1.11.
In the firmware V1.11 Harinezumi, by holding the “ok” and the shutter button, turn the unit on, wait until the unit starts up and a debug menu can be accessed. In this debug menu you can change the color tones by changing the R/G/B settings and a LIVE VIEW display.

by tuning the RGB color settings you can get a very cross-processed feeling in your photos
Then came a version, that not everyone is familiar with. The CHINON version that runs on Firmware v1.00. The CHINON version is just a little different from the v1.11 version. It has a better menu interface and a little difference in texture.
Here is the video of the camera at work.

Generally its the same thing, but has a dull surface instead of a shiny one. As you can see the front has the word CHINON written on it.
Then the Digital Buchineko (harinezumi in white) came and its limited editions
the following are some shots of my ex-collection (sold)
The Digital Buchineko and some new Harinezumi 1 runs on the firmware v1.15. Firmware v1.15 does not enable users to use the Color Hack, even though the Debug mode can be accessed. The colors will not change no matter how the numbers have changed, it can only become a live view display hack.
HARINEZUMI 2 YOU.
2 new attractive functions had been put in to this new little camera.
1 not so attractive.
1. Black and white mode.
2. Super Close up mode.
3. Sound Input.
The camera’s megapixel went up as well. but generally the quality for the photos in colors are bad, so bad they don’t look like 8mm films.
they look like cheap security cameras. The only good that can come from the camera is its black and white mode. Since its a little noisy in color, the noise in black and white looks perfectly cool. Black and white videos are even cooler, check out the video below.
There is 1 thing I’ve been wondering, why not make the Digital Harinezumi 2 a Black and white digital camera?
wouldn’t that be cool? Superheadz, what are you guys thinking?
the color on the Harinezumi 2 suck so bad I wish it wasn’t in the function.

FINAL CONCLUSION
So my final conclusion is, if you like to shoot in Monochrome and closeup mode, harinezumi 2 would be a wonderful camera for you, it is small, you can buy a strap and hang it around your neck and look cool when you walk around with it.
If you like the old 8mm colored film videos and soft, but satuated colored photos, the normal harinezumi would be a better choice. Also if you have Adobe Premiere Pro (thats the only video editing program I know, please forgive me for being so ignorant hahaha.) The Monochrome video and higher light curves on Digital Harinezumi 2 won’t make any difference to you.
Since harinezumi 2 came out, the price for harinezumi 1 eventually drops, since the harinezumi 2 cost the same as the harinezumi 1.
if this going to be your first time to get the Harinezumi, I would rather you get harinezumi 1. If you are lucky, you might even get the V1.11 version that changes colors
Hope my little conclusion can help you get whats best for you.

hi mijonju! i’m pretty much only interested in the video aspect of the digi hari and i was just wondering if there is a difference between the chinon and buchineko when it comes to taking videos. does the chinon (or 1.11/1.14) take better videos than the buchineko (1.15)? thank you so much
hiii, do you know where i can get replacement battery cover for my buchineko? i have no idea how it snapped? ): thanks
Crossing my fingers that more version 1 1.14/1.1 or 1.0 cameras are “in stock” with you in a few days Mijonju!
Hey,
I posted awhile back about my ruined Harinezumi (I dropped it in the toilet during one hell of a holiday party.)
Someone suggested that I put it in a container of rice for a couple weeks to let it dry out. I was skeptical to say the least, but guess what? It tottaly worked.
Thanks so much for the tip.

oh Andrew! that’s bad, dry it up, put it in a bowl of rice, im not kidding, rice sucks the humidity out, take the battery out.. leave it in the rice for 2-3 weeks. hope it works.
